Among the 60 paintings at this exhibition are those by Americans like Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent and James McNeill Whistler who, at the end of the last century, ventured to Paris and even contributed to the creation of the new aesthetic, and Americans like Edmund C. Tarbell and William Merritt Chase, who deployed the new approach at home.
